Take Back Control Of Your Life

November 10, 20242 min read

Your job is in your control, your life is in your hands, and decisions about your future are yours alone. (Ali Abdall)

In 2020 I hit rock bottom. Yesterday I needed to take a step back and appreciate how far I've come.

My burnout was visible to everyone, but nothing changed in the workplace. I was offered no support but plenty of criticism in every available form. It felt like kicking a dog when it was already down, and it was coming from all directions.

I had no idea how to stop what was happening within or around me. I couldn’t afford to walk away. I felt stuck.

I was physically and mentally broken, and then I was faced with the final blow leading to the biggest fight of my life, Breast Cancer in 2020 age 46.

I had nothing left in tank and I worried that I wouldn’t have the strength to fight it.

I continue to fight, be brave and have hope. Things are going well.

Since then, I have made it my purpose to support other people manage their health and wellbeing, so they never find themselves in the same position I did in 2020.

Work should never make you feel undervalued, exhausted, unworthy or unwell.

Once through my operation and treatment, I set myself some goals, I actively sought out the best in the business to help me understand what the hell had happened but also to help me build the future I deserved to have.

I was no longer prepared to accept that I was stuck.

I had options if I wanted them.

I took the control back. Here is what I have achieved so far………….

✅Got a new job in a great organisation
✅Qualified as an Executive Leadership
✅Set up my own coaching & training business (sideline to my main job)
✅Committed and invested in training on IT systems relevant to my business
✅Committed and invested in training to understand more about launching a business
✅Committed and invested in working with various different coaches to help me move forward from the wreck I had become in 2020
✅Built my website myself
✅Invested in training to understand and support others with Burnout
✅Invested in training to understand and support others with Imposter Syndrome
✅Invested in training to enhance my coaching skills to help others with their goals and challenges such as NLP amongst others
✅Coached and trained leaders in the voluntary and public sector to make the changes they wanted for their careers and futures

You never have to feel stuck, but I know from personal experience that it happens.

You never have nowhere to turn, but I know from personal experience you can sometimes feel trapped.

If you have read this post this far thank you, be assured that there are thousands of good people out there that can and want to help you. We are everywhere you just need to know where to look.
